Volunteer at the 2023 Agroecology Europe Forum, Converging movements for resilient food systems, on 16-18 November in Gyöngyös, Hungary!
Thank you for your interest in volunteering with us! Volunteers are an integral part of the Forum organising team in the agroecological spirit of reciprocity, responsibility, and care. The 2023 Agroecology Europe Forum is a 3-day in-person event that aims to convene 200-300 people from all over Europe.
So we need your help on the floor!
You will work with and for stakeholders and representatives of the agroecological community—farmers, growers, and ranchers, peasants, researchers, social movements, non-governmental organizations, and European policy makers—participating in dynamic and interactive dialogues around agricultural and food systems and European policy issues.
In-person volunteers will assist with:
- Registration
- Setting up sessions and catering at the venue
- Welcoming and helping participants
- Sharing information with participants
- Ushering guests
- Technical and IT support
- Live social media posting
- Merchandise sales
- Printing
- Preparing gift packages
- Note taking
- Coordinating shuttle service
- And various other small, but important tasks for the success of the event.
Personal and professional qualities we look for:
- Reliability
- Quick and independent problem-solving
- Language abilities (English is required, Hungarian is desirable, all other languages are a plus)
- Computer and technological proficiency (Google Drive, Excel, sound systems, screen projection, Outlook, etc.)
- Creative communications and media skills
- Note taking, fast typing
- Tactfulness, confidence, professionality
- Passion for food sovereignty and agroecology
- Availability for the full 3 days of the event (16-18 November) in Gyöngyös, Hungary, and an orientation meeting
- Visa eligibility to travel and stay in Hungary for the duration of the Forum (please note we cannot support visa applications)
As a volunteer, you will:
- Receive a free ticket to the Forum, including lunches and dinners, and reimbursement for your travel, and accommodation costs for up to €250
- Gain valuable experience at a large-scale conference in event management, communications, and logistics
- Meet with Europe’s leading agroecological scientists, researchers, experts, policymakers, innovators, and pioneers
- Learn in depth about the challenges and opportunities of agroecology at the conversations you take part in
- Be an approachable, friendly, and dependable representative of the 2023 Forum
- Enrich your CV with a possible reference from Agroecology Europe
